Duolingo taught you the basics.
But real life doesn't wait for you to conjugate.

The Wall

Most learners hit the same point — you can read a menu, pass a quiz, keep a streak going. But the moment a native speaker talks at normal speed, with a real accent, in a real situation, something breaks. That's not a vocabulary problem. It's a listening comprehension problem. If Duolingo got you here, read this →

What's Missing

No app has focused on listening comprehension specifically — until now. Comprehenzo is built for learners who've embraced Comprehensible Input and are ready to push past the listening plateau. Structured practice, real regional accents, CEFR-calibrated audio. How we apply CI to listening →

The Habit Fact

Two weeks of daily practice is where the listening habit forms. Your free trial is exactly that long — designed that way on purpose.

From the founder

I built Comprehenzo because I'd still only get a couple words....

I'm not a polyglot, and I'm not a language teacher. I'm an intermediate Spanish learner — and oftentimes a frustrated one.

I could read Spanish fine. I passed the quizzes, finished the lessons, kept the streak alive. Then someone would actually speak to me — normal speed, real accent — and I'd freeze. Only a few words would land. All those hours, and it was still a struggle.

The problem wasn't me. Almost nothing I'd used trained the skill that matters most in a real conversation: listening. And the few tools that did teach it used one tidy, textbook voice — nothing like the Spanish you meet in the world.

So I built the thing I needed. Comprehenzo is listening practice built on comprehensible input — hours of audio pitched just above your level, in everyday situations and the regional accents you'll actually encounter (Castilian now, more coming soon...), for Spanish and French. It's the tool I wished existed when I started, made by someone still on the journey.

If understanding spoken Spanish or French is the wall you keep hitting, I built this for you. Try all its capabilities out for two weeks for free.

Real scenarios. Real speech. Real life.

Comprehenzo puts you in real situations — navigating the busy airport, attending the IT project meeting, bartering at a local market, communicating in an emergency — with natural speech, regional accents, and yes, occasionally someone who's clearly not in the mood to help. Because that's what real life sounds like.

🗣️

Real situations

Choose the scenarios that matter most to you: understand what is going on in the business meeting before it gets interpreted; navigate the airport without Google Translate; meet interesting native speakers without them switching to English.

🎧

Real conversations

Audio generated in natural, flowing speech — not the slow, over-enunciated voice of a textbook recording.

📍

Real accents

Train your ear for Mexican, Argentine, and Castilian Spanish — or Parisian and Quebec French... Your destination has an accent. (A2 Castilian released, more on the way)

From beta testers

Finally something that lets me practice listening and vocabulary around specific scenarios with specific accents. Scenarios and vocabulary that are actually useful to me for my upcoming trip.

Marie, Beginning Spanish learner

The flirting with a handsome man scenario made me laugh, and the grumpy old storekeeper scenario might prove helpful in Paris when I finally get there.

Madeline, A2 French learner

I have a 1700 day streak on Duolingo and can read Spanish pretty well, but when a native speaker starts talking I often get lost. Duolingo seems random, with Comprehenzo I can focus on specific situations. Plus the scenarios with rude or impatient speakers are gold
